The hunt

a) Dove:

Depending on the time of the year, the shooting is on grain fields or close to the roosts. It is fast shooting and every hunter has a bird boy assigned who carries the shells, picks the birds and assists him during the hunt. At noon the hunters take a break for lunch. A barbecue will be served in the field and after a short rest it will be time to shoot until the birds quit flying. This is high volume shooting; therefore, the use of shoulder pads and semiautomatic guns are highly recommended

b) Perdiz (partridge):

There are two types of perdiz: Perdiz Chica or Dorada and Colorada or Martineta. The Dorada is more plentiful. This bird, with the approximate size of a quail, flies fast and straight. The Martineta is a much bigger bird, flies slower but is very appreciated for the quality of its meat. The hunt is done with pointing dogs. Normally it is an easy walking hunt. Partridges are found in the natural pastures in singles or pairs. If it’s not very windy the birds hold until the dogs flush them. The daily limit per hunter is 10 Doradas and 2 Martinetas.

This house can accommodate 6 hunters in 4 dwl bedrooms sharing 2 bathrooms. Very cozy place. The hospitality of the owners and hosts, Walter and Fernanda, makes this trip an unforgettable experience. Fernanda also is a specialist in Italian cuisine.

How to get

a)Flight Miami-Montevideo and ground transfer to the estancia (aprox 3 hs)
b)Flight Miami-Buenos Aires. Charter flight to Rodo (10 minutes from the estancia)
c)Flight Miami-Buenos Aires. Ferry to Colonia and short ground transfer to estancia

Program DOVE & PERDIZ HUNT URUGUAY

Day 1:
Depart from hometown. Overnight flight to Montevideo.

Day 2:
Early morning arrival in Montevideo. Our host will greet you and provide assistance through customs. Van transportation will be provided to the lodge. (2 ½ hrs driving). Enjoy ½ day of dove hunting.

Day 3 through day 5:
Full days of hunting. Mornings for perdiz with pointing dogs and dove hunt in the afternoons.

Day 6:
Morning hunt.
Van transportation provided to Montevideo airport for late evening departure back to the U.S.
